There are 4 types/formats of URLs that can be entered into this form and 1 possible outcome, all links will be output using the preferred url encoded querystring format (qurl).

Unproxied

Un-proxied links will be direct links to resources as if users were on campus, these links do not have the ezproxy URL prefix yet

e.g. http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?authtype=ip,uid&custid=s3928731&profile=ehost&defaultdb=a9h&groupid=main

Proxied - Unencoded

Links in this category are in the standard format http://ezproxy.rowan.edu/login?url= . URLs in this formation are technically not valid, some content management systems may not accept URLS in this format.

e.g. http://ezproxy.rowan.edu/login?url=http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?authtype=ip,uid&custid=s3928731&profile=ehost&defaultdb=a9h&groupid=main

Proxied - Encoded (Preferred)

Links in this category have been encoded using the qurl query string paramere with a url that has been URI encoded http://ezproxy.rowan.edu/login?qurl= format. See this blog post for more information on why we should use qurl over url. URLs in this formation will validate and will work in content management systems.

Proxied - Deep Proxied (with wildcart host)

Links in this category have been proxied from offcampus and will have a hostname like resource-hostname.ezproxy.rowan.edu.
